As we step into April, Knox College is welcoming the arrival of spring and gearing up for a month filled with key events. The annual spring forum was hosted on the first, and so far April is shaping up to be a particularly busy month for the college’s admissions team.
The first admitted student day was set on Friday, April 4th, 2025, and 68 families attended with a total of 151 guests. The second one was held on Friday, April 11th, 2025, with 72 families in attendance and a total of 177 guests. These events are crucial in showcasing Knox College to prospective students and their families.
In terms of admissions, the team has already exceeded its original goal of 6,000 applications, with approximately 6,100 applications submitted for the Fall 2025 semester. The goal is to admit 4,000 students, with a final enrollment of 400 first-year students and 35 transfer students.
“We’re about just around 900 students off of where we need to be as far as our admit goal, but we have a lot of international students that are still submitting documents and getting things in, so we are pretty confident that we’ll get to around 4,000 admitted students,” says Vice President for Enrollment Nathan Ament.
President C. Andrew McGadney also addressed concerns raised by international students, particularly around issues related to the political climate and visa policies. One international student from Brazil expressed fear and anxiety over the potential impact of recent policies on their family and friends, a sentiment echoed across the campus as students navigated these uncertain times.
President McGadney acknowledges these concerns, emphasizing the importance of supporting international students during this challenging period. He also acknowledged the tough time for international students and emphasized the importance of education. Knox College is working to provide more support, including additional meetings with immigration attorneys.
A session with an attorney that specializes in immigration and international law was held on April 2nd. Information can be found on the Visits from Law Enforcement webpage. There you can find the Know Your Rights Guidance from the Illinois Attorney General’s Office. Knox College encourages all students to reach out to International Student Services to address any concerns before traveling.
Another issue raised in the discussion was the need for additional support for students staying on campus over the summer. Knox College is exploring expanded housing options for students who may need to remain on campus during the summer. Students are encouraged to communicate their housing and activity preferences to the administration to assist with planning.
For more information or to share suggestions regarding summer housing, students can contact President McGadney directly at [email protected].
As the academic year progresses, the administration remains focused on maintaining the integrity of the educational experience and offering support to the student body. Knox College encourages students to stay engaged, reach out for help when needed, and remain informed as new initiatives and resources are introduced.
