Despite being primarily online, Counseling Services still has a lot that they are offering this term. For students residing in Illinois, including those currently on campus, Counseling Services is offering telecounseling, both for individuals and groups/couples. Additionally, they have crisis telecounseling for people who need immediate help, and consultations for people who want to find out if Counseling Services is for them. For people outside of Illinois, Counseling Services can provide referrals to other counselors in the state that the person resides in.
Along with telecounseling, Counseling Services has also been offering online events that are open to everyone, no matter where they are. These include late night meditations on Mondays–Thursdays (the link to them should be in your Knox email), game nights and presentations from Counseling Services Peer Educators about issues such as depression and anxiety that help provide people with coping skills for those issues. Additionally, they have frequent giveaways of self-care items, and run Fresh Check Week at the beginning of Fall Term.
Counseling Services also has an active social media presence, with both a Facebook and Instagram where they post about events and general self-care information.
If you have any questions or would like to get an appointment with Counseling Services, they are open from 9 AM to 4:30 PM Monday through Friday. They do not take physical walk-in appointments, but you can call them at (309) 341-7492 or email them at [email protected]. Additionally, the Student Senate Health and Wellness Committee is working with Counseling Services, so if you have any questions, you can also contact one of our committee members.
