Following the mass shooting in Atlanta, Georgia which targeted Asian women, we would like to show our support for the Asian American community. It should not have to be said that we stand against bigotry and hate in all forms, but given the recent rise of hate crimes against Asian Americans, we cannot stay silent on this issue and neither should you.
Here are some ways you can help:
Carrds with Various Resources
Fundraisers
Petitions
Education
Resources for Asian Americans
-
Asian Mental Health Collective – https://www.asianmhc.org
-
SAMHSA National Hotline – 800-662-HELP (4357)
-
National Queer Asian Pacific Islander Alliance (NQAPIA) – https://www.nqapia.org
-
Crisis Text Line – Text HOME to 741741
-
CalHope Emotional Support Hotline – 833-317-HOPE (4673)
This is by no means an exhaustive list. We encourage clubs and organizations on campus to have conversations about actions they can take and for everyone to reflect on what they can do to support Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders (AAPI) in our own community at this time. It is not enough to be vocal or release a statement. Actions matter more than words.
